It is with deep sadness that the Town Council has to report that Councillor Ron Hampson passed way on 7th August 2017. Councillor Hampson had been a Member of the Town Council for 27 years and was Town Mayor in 1997. He was both respected and liked by everyone who met him. The Town Council's thoughts and condolences go to Mrs Hampson and family.
FURTHER UPDATE ON TRAVELLERES ON BUCKLEY COMMON
The following update has been received from Flintshire County Council:-
"We have now returned from Wrexham Magistrates Court and we have been granted an order for removal. Our case was heard at 14.15 as the court was running behind. Carwyn Jones an his bailiff team are now serving this order on the Travellers. They will then have 24 hours from this service to remove themselves from the land"

THE CHILDCARE OFFER FOR WALES

The following update has been received from Flintshire County Council regarding the travellers on Buckley Common:-
"We have received numerous complaints about the bushes on The Common being used as toilets. Therefore we have had to make the decision to order some portaloo's which will be delivered on Tues. Initially there was no requirement to provide toilets, however over the weekend the situation appears to have deteriorated and due to the number of complaints that we have... had from people using the Common we have made this decision". "Regular collections of rubbish are being made from the site and we are continuing to monitor the situation".
Would anyone wishing to comment upon the situation, please acknowledge that Buckley Town Council has no statutory or legal authority over The Common. That responsibility lies with Flintshire County Council who manage The Common. You can contact Flintshire County Council through the Gypsy Traveller Liaision Officer on 01352 702419. Please note that Buckley Town Council is monitoring the situation on an ongoing basis and is in touch with Flintshire County Council regarding this issue.
Flintshire County Council's Legal Team now have a Court date. This is Thursday 27th July at 12pm in Wrexham Magistrates Court.
FURTHER UPDATE ON TRAVELLERS ON BUCKLEY COMMON
Flintshire County Council have visited the Travellers this morning (Fri) at Buckley Common.
Its Legal Team have now commenced Court proceedings and the Anti Social Behavioural Team will be making visits to deal with any ASB and the Police are continuing to make site visits and are engaging with the Travellers.
TRAVELLERS ON BUCKLEY COMMON
The following statement has been received from Flintshire County Council in respect of the above:-
We have visited Buckley Common and at 14.30 this afternoon [20th July 2017] the Travellers were still on the land. We have therefore instructed our legal team to take the necessary action for their removal which involves going to court. As of today we do not have a date for the court hearing. Once we have the removal order Flintshire County Council bailiffs can proceed to remove the Travellers from the land.

A55/A494/A548 DEESIDE CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENT CONSULTATION 13TH MARCH - 5TH JUNE 2017
The Welsh Assembly Government are holding consultations events in respect of potential proposals for traffic alleviation on the roads in the Deeside area as listed above. Two proposals are being put forward, a blue route and a red route and the views of people in the area are being sought. Attached to this notice are Appendix A and Appendix B which are a summary version of the two proposals.
DEMENTIA : ONE SIMPLE THING
The Community Health Council has commenced a consultation period from 1st March 2017 where people or their families or their carers are asked one simple question "What could the NHS do better to support people, as well as their families and their carers, living with dementia?". Coronation Gardens will be closed to the public from 1st December to 29th February 2017 inclusive. From 1st March onwards the opening times will follow those advertised on the gates.
The External Auditors for Buckley Town Council completed their Audit on 12th August 2016. The Accounts are therefore now available for inspection by local electors in accordance with Section 29 of the Public Audit (Wales) Act 2004. PUBLIC QUESTION TIME
The Town Council has introduced a Public Question Time session to its Council Meetings. Questions should be put in writing and addressed to the Town Clerk. The format for the questions is attached. MURAL ON TOWN COUNCIL BUILDING
'RANDOM' the graffiti artist has produced a superb mural of Terry Pratchett on the boarded up old bus shelter at the Town Council offices. The mural raises awareness of Alzheimers disease, a condition which Terry Pratchett suffered from. The mural has replaced an earlier one by RANDOM entitled 'The Last Fighting Tommy' featuring a depiction of Harry Patch. This had to be removed for safe keeping due to vandalism. See the attached photograph of the current mural.
NAT WEST - MOBILE BANK
Due to the closure of the Nat West Bank Branch in Buckley on Tuesday 15th September 2015, as from Tuesday 22nd September 2015, there will be a mobile branch of the Nat West Bank on the car park between the Town Council Chamber and the Police Station from 9.45am to 11.00am. The facility will be available at those times every Tuesday thereafter. The mobile banking facility has been arranged between the Nat West Bank and Buckley Town Council.
TOWN COUNCIL BURSARY SCHEME
The Town Council provides a Bursary Scheme to support a small number of students who are about to or are already attending a University or College of Higher Education. The Bursary, when granted, will be paid directly to the student and is intended to be used to assist in the payment of the students tuition fees. Please see attached advertising literature in relation to the Scheme and also the information form which provides details of the Scheme including how any interested party should apply for inclusion in the Bursary Scheme.
The Town Council has a chalet in the shopping precinct in Brunswick Road, Buckley. The chalet is available for hire, in situ, at a cost of £5.00 per day. Anyone wishing to hire the chalet should be either a registered charity or a social organisation. The Town Council cannot hire the chalet to commercial traders whose business make conflict with the activities of the traders within the Precinct. Anyone interested in hiring the chalet should contact the Town Council Offices on tel no. 01244 544540. Please see chalet as used recently by a social organisation.
BUCKLEY TOWN COUNCIL'S FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO SUPPORT AND PROMOTE BUCKLEY TOWN AND ITS PEOPLE
The Town Council, on an annual basis, makes grants, donations and financial contributions towards a number of activities and organisations within the town to promote and assist the enjoyment of the town by its population and visitors. The Town Council considers applications from charitable and other social/sporting organisations within the town at a meeting of its Finance Sub Committee (Grants). Please note the Town Council is unable to fund individuals in relation to grants and donations except where the application falls under the Bursary Scheme. The Town Council also supports organisations outside the town where appropriate. To obtain an application form to be considered for a grant or donation please see attached form. CITIZENS ADVICE BUREAU
The Citizens Advice Bureau Outreach Service officially opened for business in the Town Council Offices on Wednesday 7th April 2010. The office hours are: Appointments 9.30am till 12.30pm and Drop In from 1.30pm - 4.00pm each Wednesday. The service is being funded in its entirety by Buckley Town Council in partnership with Higher Kinnerton Community Council.
